David has over 30 years of experience litigating complex business cases in state and federal courts and helping clients find creative business resolutions to difficult disputes. David is particularly attuned to the needs of business clients because he grew up in a successful family owned business and operated his own small business for several years before going to law school. David focuses his practice on disputes among owners of closely held businesses, minority shareholder disputes, disputes between buyers and sellers of businesses, and cases involving banking and accounting issues. David is a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission Certified Superior Court Mediator. David also has significant experience in the forensic investigation of fraudulent financial transactions, and since July 2013 has served a.s counsel to the Monitor of the National Mortgage Settlement.

Representative Experience

July 2013 - present - Counsel to the Monitor of the National Mortgage Settlement. David has been part of the team that assists the Monitor in reviewing and reporting on the extensive testing of mortgage servicing systems that was required under the terms of the National Mortgage Settlement. David has worked with multiple mortgage servicers, accounting firms and regulators during the course of this engagement.
