Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce that partner Eddie Speas was inducted into the North Carolina Bar Association’s Legal Practice Hall of Fame.
This recognition honors individuals who have devoted their careers to enhancing the legal profession, adhering to high ethical and professional standards, and serving as role models for other attorneys. Speas is one of eight inductees this year into the Legal Practice Hall of Fame, which is the highest honor bestowed by the Senior Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association.
Speas has practiced for 53 years. The focus of his practice has been on disputes concerning legislative and congressional redistricting and educational policies and practices. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and received the first Distinguished Service Award from the Education Section of the North Carolina Bar Association in 1990. Speas served in the Office of the Attorney General of North Carolina for 32 years before joining Poyner Spruill in 2003. In 2008, Speas was appointed General Counsel for Governor Bev Perdue. He returned to Poyner Spruill in 2011.
Speas, along with the other 7 inductees, was recognized by the North Carolina Bar Association on September 20, 2024.
