For the second year in a row, Poyner Spruill LLP Managing Partner Dan Cahill has been named as a Managing Partner to Watch by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.
Cahill has served as Managing Partner for seven years. His accomplishments include proactively preparing the firm for future challenges, demonstrated by the early adoption of a cloud-based system prior to COVID-19-related office shutdowns; executing Poyner Spruill’s five-year strategic plan, which focused on growth, diversity, client service, and an enhanced firm culture; and fostering open communication with all firm employees.
In addition to serving as Managing Partner, Cahill acts as the firm’s assistant general counsel and loss prevention partner. A life-long resident of Raleigh, Cahill is active in the community. He serves on the Advisory Board for Note in the Pocket and the Board of Directors for The Green Chair Project and the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, where he was the Chair in 2023. He is also involved in the Campbell Law School Mentorship Program.
“Above all things, Dan is a leader who cares deeply about every person working at Poyner Spruill,” said Management Committee member Chad Essick. “While the bottom line is important, Dan has always focused on ensuring that our firm is a great place to work, that our culture differentiates us from other law firms, and he constantly builds trust amongst our attorneys and legal professionals alike. We are so very grateful for his outstanding leadership, hard work and unwavering commitment to our people and our clients.”
Cahill focuses his practice on complex commercial disputes, representing banks and financial institutions in all types of litigation. He also devotes a portion of his practice to providing professional liability defense for lawyers and architects. As a Certified Mediator, Cahill counsels clients on alternative dispute resolution.
