Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Elizabethtown, NC — March 14, 2016. Poyner Spruill has joined The Southeastern Partnership as the organization’s latest investor. With offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Rocky Mount and Southern Pines, the firm has 98 attorneys representing 36 practice areas.

Former U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre, a partner at Poyner Spruill, will serve on the Partnership’s board of directors. McIntyre joined the firm in mid 2015 and holds the position of senior advisor and director of government relations.

“The Southeastern Partnership leads the way in promoting business and economic opportunity not only in the Southeast but across the state,” said McIntyre, whose Congressional district included Fayetteville, Lumberton, Wilmington and many other Southeastern North Carolina communities. “Poyner Spruill shares my commitment to the people of North Carolina and to growing the prosperity of our citizens and our communities.”

While serving in Congress from 1997 to 2015, McIntyre won international, regional, state and local recognition for his leadership in the arena of economic development. Among the long list of senior positions he held was that of Chairman of the U.S. House Agriculture Subcommittee on Rural Development. In 2007, McIntyre received the National Leadership Award for economic development from the National Association of Development Organizations, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit serving and supporting regional economic development entities.

“Mike McIntyre brings an unmatched level of experience, energy and dedication to the Partnership’s board, and we are very fortunate to have him with us,” said Jeff Etheridge, chairman of The Southeastern Partnership. “We’re grateful to Poyner Spruill for the expertise, leadership and financial commitment this prestigious firm is bringing to our organization, our region and our mission.”
