A collection of congressional papers and artifacts of former Congressman Mike McIntyre will be on display beginning this month at the William Madison Randall Library, University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The exhibit, “Mike Works for Me from SENC to Washington DC,” celebrates McIntyre’s 18 years in Congress and will run through Dec. 10. The collection, containing photographs, congressional awards and recognitions, will give students, faculty, staff and researchers a better understanding of the legislative process and North Carolina’s history.
Representing North Carolina’s 7th District, McIntyre donated his congressional papers to the William Madison Randall Library Special Collections in November 2014. McIntyre said, “The collection is a living history of events that shaped southeastern North Carolina over the past two decades and serves as a testament to the indelible partnerships created with the people of the 7th District.”
The public can view the exhibit Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon in the Special Collections Room and the Sundial Gallery.
Randall Library Special Collections contains rare books, manuscripts and other materials that have special historical significance for the Lower Cape Fear Region, including the North Carolina Coastal Federation manuscript collection and papers of Congressman Alton Lennon.
