Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce attorneys Brett Carpenter and Paul Fogleman were honored last week in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s inaugural class of Rising Stars honorees.
The new program recognizes lawyers who have been out of law school 10 years or less and have already made a strong impact in the state’s legal community. Criteria for selection included accomplishments, contributions to the profession, contributions to the development of the law, contributions to the bar and the state, and efforts to increase access to justice.
An awards ceremony highlighting the 30 award recipients was held Wednesday, May 22 in Raleigh.
Carpenter is an associate who earned his Juris Doctor from the Campbell University School of Law in 2014. His practice focuses on important aspects of labor and employment law, including race, age, gender, religion, national origin, and disability employment discrimination claims; wrongful discharge claims; and wage and hour claims. He defends clients before administrative agencies and state and federal courts and in arbitration.
Fogleman earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2010 and was elected partner at Poyner Spruill effective Jan. 1, 2018. He assists banks, non-traditional lenders, and borrowers in a broad range of finance transactions, including term and revolving facilities, construction facilities, asset-based lending, receivables financing, loan workouts, and debt restructuring. He represents borrowers and real estate owners in many aspects of real estate transactions, including real estate secured financings, acquisitions and sales, developments, leases, title review, and due diligence analysis.
