Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce associate Charlie Davis is now a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law as certified by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization, a rare achievement as fewer than 150 North Carolina lawyers are allowed to hold the specialization.
The rigorous application, interview, and review period included intense requirements to evaluate each attorney’s depth of knowledge and experience with estate planning and probate law. These included a five-year historical look at billable hours, with a prerequisite of at least 400 hours each year. In addition, the attorney must have completed at least 72 hours of CLE training, with at least 45 specifically in estate planning and probate law in the previous three years. Finally, Davis had to submit almost a dozen professional references and take an intensive six-hour exam.
In his practice, Davis advises individuals and families in the estate planning process, including the preparation of wills, trusts, financial powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, and living wills.
