Cecilia Barreca (Rocky Mount) has returned to the firm full-time after working as a Summer Associate. She attended the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she was a co-coordinator for the Dean’s Fellow Program and a member of the Transactional and Corporate Law Association. Barreca focuses her practice on business transactional law. Barreca makes an incredible authentic Sicilian tiramisu.
Mysty Blagg (Raleigh/Remote) works with all types of healthcare professionals, including those providing long-term care, primary care, home health, behavioral health, and laboratory services. She also works with healthcare innovators seeking to bring their innovations to market. Prior to attending Campbell University School of Law, Blagg worked for more than 20 years in the healthcare industry. Outside of work, Blagg enjoys growing and propagating succulents. Blagg previously worked for Poyner Spruill, and we’re happy to welcome her back to the firm.
Stephen Gambill (Raleigh) focuses his practice on real estate and transactional matters. Prior to attending law school, Gambill obtained an undergraduate and a master’s degree in religious studies. His academic background equipped him with a strong ability to analyze intricate texts and understand multifaceted issues, which translates seamlessly into drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. Gambill is a classically trained singer and enjoys opera and musical theatre.
Jessica Hobbs (Charlotte) works with corporations, small businesses, and non-profits on matters relating to employee benefits and executive compensation. She earned her J.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she was a Davis Society inductee and recipient of Gressman & Daniel H. Pollitt Oral Advocacy Award. Hobbs worked for the firm for two years as a Summer Associate before joining full-time. In her free time, Hobbs loves to bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes.
Evan Lee (Charlotte) works with municipalities, counties, and governmental agencies on issues such as public records reviews, litigation matters, and development agreements. Lee previously served as the general counsel to Cabarrus County, which gives him a unique perspective when navigating the complexities of local government operations. Prior to attending Campbell University School of Law, Lee worked as a high school teacher at public schools in Wake County. He has travelled to every continent except Antarctica.
Clare Magee (Charlotte) represents clients in a variety of civil and commercial disputes. She obtained her J.D. at Wake Forest University School of Law, where she participated in the Appellate Advocacy Clinic and served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Wake Forest Law Review. Magee worked at Poyner Spruill as a Summer Associate and has now joined the firm full-time. Magee is a loyal and optimistic Tennessee Volunteers fan.
Kelly Newcomb (Raleigh) has returned to Poyner Spruill after previously working as a Summer Associate. She focuses her practice on financial services matters, working with banks, commercial entities, and investors, among others. Prior to attending the University of North Carolina School of Law, Newcomb spent over ten years as a bankruptcy paralegal. Newcomb learned to crochet last summer and has already made dozens of blankets, sweaters, and stuffed animals.
